United StatesHigh School: Mari was on the BHS JV soccer team as an 8th grader. This is her 4th year in the Blacksburg Soccer Program. In addition to soccer, Mari has played on the JV Volleyball Team for two years and was team captain her Freshman Year. Mari also participates in Varsity Cross Country and both Indoor and Outdoor Track in which she has received All-State Honors and competed nationally.
She is currently historian of National Student Honor Society, vice president of Bruins Against Gun Violence Club, Treasurer of Make-A-Wish Club, a Student Council Representative. She has been an officer of Make-A-Wish Club and a member of SCA since her Freshman Year. Additionally she was Co-Vice President of her class her sophomore year. She is a member of Mu Alpha Theta (math honors society), Science National Honor Society, and Spanish National Honor Society. She maintains a 4.0 GPA and takes a full schedule of AP Classes. She was also December Foreign Language Student of the Month (Spanish- 2017/18).
Personal: Born November 26, 2002. Raised in Houston, Texas and moved to Blacksburg in the summer of 2016. Daughter of Myra and David Garza. Has two younger sisters, Laya (14) and Bella (11) and a younger brother, DJ (15).
Club Team: Played for Albion Hurricanes FC (2013-2016). Played for Virginia ODP team two years (2018, 2019). Played for New River United 02G and VBR Star Soccer Club.
