Recap

Blacksburg traveled to Cave Spring High School for a rematch of last season’s Conference 32 Championship game. Blacksburg got on the board early in the 13th minute when Ashlen Burch played a ball to Meghan Shelton who hit the goal from distance. In the 20th minute Ashlen Burch once again found Meghan Shelton who beat the Cave GK 1 v 1 for the second goal. With only three minutes in the first half remaining, Meghan Shelton found Maddie Walters (37th) for a well placed finish putting Blacksburg up 3-0. The second half both teams elevated the tempo and saw an increase in fouls called. Two yellow cards were shown, one to each team, and a PK was awarded to Cave Spring with Lauren Huff finishing the free kick in the 59th minute. The game would end by at a score of 3-1 with Blacksburg recording 14 shots and having 5 corner kicks. Cave Spring recorded 5 shots and had no corner kicks. Chris Martin recorded 5 saves and the Cave GK recorded 7 saves.
